Initial D Arcade Stage 5

Author: MIGHTY

Wow.. so fast stage 5 is coming out..Its just has been almost 2 years since stage 4 being release and not stage 5 is coming..Most players predict it will be in the arcade in 2009 and officially it will be tested in Japan arcade middle of this year..I wish: IDAS4 cars can be used in IDAS5, Auras,More tracks(is confirm Happogarra is in),much widder avatar choices...Seremban pro are going to play this game? hehe..

Some updates from me..

Author: MIGHTY

Is been a busy and life changing last 2 months for my self. Trying to adapt the changes from the studying life to the working life. I found myself with less time for IDAS4 and my games. Haiz i miss those times where i couid just go out anytime i wanted to have a go at initial d. For your information in Melaka, all the arcades are still stuck with the 1.2 version and there's no Wangan Midnight Maximum tune 3. so my arcade gaming kindda stuck. While since Final Fantasy 12 came out for the psp there has not been any great games for the psp so my psp is now collecting dust. I only manage to play a few rounds of Monster Hunter Freedom 2 and the new 2G version once awhile. While the DS.. has a memorcy card curruption so 50% of my save file are gone.. wtf.I onli manage to play IDAS4 version 1.5 a few time in like 3 weeks once at KL. Manage to cut down my Akina downhill to 3'08 while tsukuba outbound to 2'49 and Irohazaka dh to 2'50 i think those time can be improved greatly if i can just get my hands on version 1.5 in Melaka. So far been tuning my AE86 and i am amaze by its performance... It's been doing 2'10 on akina dh with a half tuning level..Hoping to do some IDAS4 actio video but i seriously need a camera man...TT. See ya next time.

S2000 GUIDE<---------
S2000 ... it can go oversteer very easily. maybe cause its small? i donno. anyway, for S2000, you need to brake for 5kph and turn for abt 45 degrees for steering wheel. if the hairpin is too steep for turning and long, then brake when turning. This is how it goes.
tap brake ---> press gas ---> tap brake ---> press gas.
If the abv method doesn't work, its because you need to have the right time. You need to turn before starting the brake.

╭----------╮
| 2 ╭╮3 * |
|** ||** |
|1* || 4*|

"The numbers represent the car's position."
1 - the position where you are about to turn. Brake now.
2 - The car's turning, try to get close to the inner wall and at the same time, control the steering wheel. Try using the method that I've metioned. DO NOT LET THE FRONT BUMPER TO HIT THE INNER WALL AS YOU WILL LOSE SPEED.
3 - When the turn is abt to complete, control the steering wheel so that it won't hit the outer wall.
4 - your car should be at the outer wall's lane, not hitting the wall.

This method works for me, and the maximum speed that it'd be reduced if you did correctly, is only 6kph. And depending on the car's acceleration, it shld be able to pick up speed again fast.

If this method does not work or you have any Qs, feel free to ask me(:

^This method that I've metioned does not work that effective at iro as wallrape would be the best option. For Iro, you need to supress your speed from 70kph - 85kph. In this way, you'd be able to turn fast and effectively. I'd post another reply if you have Qs as to why maintain to that speed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Honda Integra Type R GUIDE! <----
As for Honda Integra Type R, it is said by many ppl in Singapore that this fcking car dropped its value because it loses speed when it hits the wall(Iro's wallrape method does not affect).
SO, I've come out with an idea as to how to maintain its speed while turning!
For Honda Integra Type R, it has high acceleration(lower than AE86 thou) but if it hit onto a wall, the rate of acceleration will decrease. This is the method:

#
╭----------╮
| 2 ╭╮3 * |
|** ||** |
|1* || 4*|

1 - turn the steering wheel a lil, and press brake. MAKE SURE THE SPEED REDUCE WILL BE -10pkh AT THE MAXIMUM. IF NOT, ACCELERATION WILL BE HARD TO BUILD UP AGAIN!
2 - As you press on brake, the car would slide even more to the side where you turn. RELEASE THE BRAKE PEDAL and hit the gas pedal HARD!
3 - The same as S2000's method 3, CONTROL! Don let it hit the inner wall or outer wall
4 - You shld be around the middle or near the outer wall. Acceleration would oso build up fast.

Q: What if it hits the inner wall before 3?
A: When it hits the inner wall, you just have to turn out. But be also aware that you should turn to the point that your car will not hit the outer wall.
Q: How abt if the rear bumper hits the outer wall?
A: As far as I've seen, it reduces only 5kph - 7kph. So it doesn't really matters. once you are at 4, release and press the gas pedal FAST so that the acceleration will regain its rate.

#For only hardcore turns
Okay. For really hard turns, you have to really brake before turning the steering wheel.

BUT!

The turn is sharp. WHAT TO DO?!?!
Don worry. Here are the steps:
1. Brake so that the speed will reduce to 140pkh
2. turn the steering wheel. The timing needs to be right so that the car can turn without oversteer. The front bumper will also seems to be almost touching the inner wall.
3. When turning, LOWER THE GEAR FROM 5TH GEAR TO 4TH GEAR AND STAY THERE! Why? Because by doing that, your speed will maintain at 136pkh provided that you did not hit the walls(:

I have notice most IDAS4 members choose to chill at Mc Donalds...Hey i am not promoting mc donald!! Just that all the promotion done by then now really rocks! Free refils and the big mac chant..lol Project Haruhi member EK2I14 is the god of the Big Mac Chant with a average time attack of 3 secs!! I cant beat u bro..hope they do a time attack challange for the big mac chant!! more info here!

I am suprise that both machine at IOI mall is in great condition.. The time on one of the machine has been reseted and it was great! Compare to the other arcades that kept the old time attack time, i hope the arcade operators could reset them so we could compare version 1.5 times.I now personally think this version is kindda boring coz its kindda easy to play when u know the trick to it..

OMG is Here ver 1.5!!!

Author: MIGHTY

Before i start condeming this version to death...

Hehe...but seriously what's is SEGA thinking? They are killing off the IDAS4 popularity with a difficult game physic and no PC to help.. Come on.. all we ever wanted was some aura and the ability to change to BGM is that too much to ask?Below is my 1st time attack on tsukuba wow i suck on cp3.. still need to figure out the breaking points.. and Akina dh omg so many crashes on the 1st corner...

The long awaited ver 1.5 is now officially out. I hope our arcades will get it soon in this 1-2 weeks. With a new game physis and maybe some auras.. I hope the team is prepare for a whole new challange...Cheers.. Welcome to version 1.5!!(Saves money to play IDAS4 ver 1.5)...Oh ya Sry to hear that Melaka IDAS4 machines no cards.. luckly u guysme to renew ur cards yesterday..lol
Update:
Some IDAS4 players have reported that version 1.5 has apear in Sg Wang's arcade. It seams that the only changes are the game physis. No other changes. Only our previous time attack time were erased. Word of advice.. braking is darn important... I'm gonnan check out wether the mines has it yet..so guys u can forget but penalty cancle and get ready to brake hard before entering the corner.. It seams the understeer on akina seems weard...good luck have fun..
This a video dedicated to the days of version 1.2.. enjoy..

Tsukuba

Author: MIGHTY

Tsukuba Outbound

I suggest to watch these 3 video first before you want to play Tsukuba Outbound.

S2k, can see his foot in CP3, 4

cappu, can see his foot in CP1, 3, 4

Lining was very important in Tsukuba. The timing you counter the steering was a important issue to get the fastest CP time. Especially the CP2, those left-right left-right turning. For example, after turn the right corner, you must very fast to counter steering to the left. After the left, must faster counter steering again. This can keep your best acceleration.

If you can pass the CP3 with 161km ( s2k), that means u manage to counter steering fast.

For CP1, not much special, only need to PC once after come out from the left drain.

For CP3 & 4, please refer to the video above. It teach you a lot of the PC techniques.

I think most of the players face the problem in CP3 - S consecutive corner and CP4 - the last corner and the two S corner. The Japaneses in video will teach you how to do. More practive will help in order to get a good time in tsukuba.Next is Iro...later..

Error 403 Help desk

Author: MIGHTY

If error 403 happens when u r renewing ur card..
Please ask the arcade staff to help you in this steps:

1. Press START + ^ + TEST at the same time ( TEST button was beside the service button )

2. Screen will appear error #01

3. Press START again, it become #2

4. Insert a new ID card

5. Your data will restore to that new ID

or u can also try this:

The compartment EXPIRED remedial treatment
please note! Following step must examine the defeat in the vehicle į 40; Original machine on carries on
1. Enters Test
2. Chooses IC Card the Restoration option
3. Chooses the vehicle to examine the defeat card the general code (at the back of card a long string numeral)
if had not found any general code, that non solution! To this conclusion!
4. After found the general code, after then chooses the Restore option to press down the Test key
5. Inserts the vehicle to examine the defeat the card
6. After the short read, the radio station can demonstrate Finished Normally is the expression compartment renovates successfully.(Other demonstrations then; Expression defeat)
7. Takes out the card, jumps out Test, restores the game picture.
8. Carries on Che Jianji ok!
(translated from chinesse dont mind the grammar)

Here's the oneway of solving 403 in case the last one fails is so bloody complicated
1) Send the machine into Test mode.
2) Select IC card restoration
3) Your access code should appear on screen. Select restore and insert your expired card (any other card will not work, as the access code on screen must match the card inserted)
4) Data will be restored to your expired card.
5) Get the tech to fix the card jam problem on the reader, then once it's done, renew again (get the tech to insert the credits too; you don't want to pay again do you?).
6) If the card reader is opened up, after your expired card is ejected, check if a card from the reader is being dispensed. If it is successful then your renewal is fine. If it's not, error 403 will show up again, and go back to step 1. But usually if they mess around with the cards error 403 should not happen again unless it's the card reader rollers are at fault.

Taken from some ID forum

If all fail u can kiss ur car good bye..

Where to renew?

Times Square: Safe.
MV: Safe. Their readers are prone to 403 so you need to call the technician who knows how to fix it. (The Indian one)
Mines: NOT Safe. Only one technician knows how to fix, and the others don't. If you happen to NOT know how to do it, and you run into the wrong tech, say bye bye.
Summit USJ: NOT Safe. Technician doesnt care.
Sunway Pryamid: I never see any of their machines got 403 before. I was told its SAFE tho.
Cheras Leisure Mall: Same as Summit's technicians. Lazy ass technicians..
Melaka: I doubt the technitian there know because the ones taking care of the machine is a few very old grandfather and grand mother..lol
Dunno about Sg Wang, never heard anything about their readers.

Try not to renew at night because no one will save ur ass if anything happens..Ok i'm going back to Melaka to fry some noobs for supper..lol. bring it on..

MIGHTY & HARUHI

Author: MIGHTY

I am going to crap about my IDAS4 cars. Since i am having trouble uploading my time attack videos on youtube i'll juz crap about my car for the time being.. First off, my main battle card MIGHTY consist of mainly the RX-7 Type R [FD3S] and the Honda S2000 [AP1]

RX-7 Type R [FD3S]

Honda S2000 [AP1]

Both cars all full tuned and ready for any challanges. While HARUHI just begun with a near stok Toyota SPRINTER TRUENO GT-APEX [AE86]

The AE86 is still in a tuning state of 5-0-0-0-0 which kindda suck for the time being. But still i manage to clear the game without any difficulties. Hopefully we can get to see HARUHI in action in 2-3 months to come.I'll try ask our seremban pro to upload those video but he's kindda slow ..ok see u next time.. bye..

IDAS4 world Tournament has ended some time ago in Hong Kong and the winner is CFK . This is the amazing battle video there.I also have just added his time attack video. He is truely amazing. Hope i can be in the same league like him soon. Enjoy.

A week with IDAS4

Author: MIGHTY

This is what my CNY 2008 with IDAS4 outng in Melaka is like. Overall i feel that playing IDAS4 in Melaka kindda sucks. One of the reasons is that there are many noobs that kindda hogging the machine. I dont mind if they are playing hard to beat their time attack but the way they abuse the gear shifter and slamming the strearing wheel kinda distroyes my mood. When its my turn to have a go one the machine the stearing is broken. There is no feed back at all from the stearing(the left side machine in Dataran Pahlawan arcade). But i love the atmosphere there because the air conditioning there is great.
Then i head over to Mahkota Parade's arcade. Over there, there were many newbees playing in there newly formed team. I had o wait awhile to get my chance to play. When it comes to my turn i enter the game and open challange to them so that i would have some fun battling them. How ever at the 1st round they were looking at my time attack on Tsukuba and Akina(I broke my previous records by 2 secs again on both course). They were reluctend to battle me. Finally they sent out their team leader to battle me. However i am surprice that they uses a stock RX8 to battle me. In my mind , i was furious because they kinnda look down on me. The battle ended with me winning all 5 battles boost on on akina and tsukuba. The that guy told his team members that even with a stock car he could keep up with me by 100m on most of the course. What a Lansi guy!! The i took out my card and use a stock AE85 to challange him. I was kindda worry coz the cround has grown much bigger at the arcade. With such a huge croud he has no choice but to battle me.
He chooses Irohazaka DH to battle me with his stock car but i wonder what on earth he is so affraid to battle me boost off? I offered him a boost of but he till did not have the balls to boost off coz he wants to save his face coz his gf is watching. I was leading most of the way by wall raping and pc but he was able to over took me becaouse of the slow acceration of the AE85. But i manage to over took him at the final courner thx to the battle i hade with YUMI* a few months ago(learn alot from him). The he just left with his team and gf.I did manage to peep at his main car in his card b4 i battle him he uses the new evo with a mild tunnning 7-2-0-0-0.His Tsukuba inbound time attack was a mere 3'00' whle mine was a 2' 55'.
Oh yeah his card name was some thing like "@$%KO%@". If u see him pls say hi. Oh yeah the price for IDAS4 in melaka has been educe to RM 2 yeah!but still my overall battle in melaka shows that melakans are very kia su compare to KL.They seldom accept battles. I hope the mentallity of IDAS4 players in melaka will improve! Those who see me in preson can give me a hi.(^^)(20 consecutive victory already lol!).

I would like to personally wish everyone a very Happy Chinese New Year 2008! May u guys have alot of angpau's to spent on the IDAS4 machine lol...

More IDAS4 cars review!!

Author: MIGHTY

AE86 Levin
Pros
- easy and fun to drive..
- control is a piece of cake..
- no need to brake at corners (at least in tsukuba and Akina)
- Extremely fast at continuous hairpins and corners...
- eats up the gutter in tsukuba while cornering like its made of watermelon juice..
- famous spots to understeer in Tsukuba is killed off with no struggle

Cons
- Bad start up
- butt likes to slide too much under oversteer (not an IRO machine)

DC2
Advantages
- Powerful even in stock.
- A FF that wags it tails like a FR.. it serves a lot... so faster around Irohazaka and u can easily do a right hand jump on Iro.. (FF can never do a right hand jump)
- Powerful on all tracks and lovely to TA..
- Powerful 4th and 5th gear..
- An almost pinpoint handling
- DONT UNDERSTEER MUCH!!! u can curb with it like it doesnt even exist..

Disadvantages
- Though it wags its tail like an FR.. it would kill so much speed u would cry..
- Not a Iro car though it can do right hand jump.. Reason being cause it lacks accleration..
- it tends to oversteer if u overdo the steering..

Altezza
Pros:
- fast start up
- nice oversteer (at least for me)
- great on akagi dhd

Cons:
- like Glocker said, butt keeps swinging everywhere
- horrible on wet, butt swings more

AE85
Pro
-a bit shorter than AE86
- light weight
- hardly anyone will use it, so you are unique:P

Con
- more slippery than AE86
- lack top speed

Roadster NA6CE
Good:
- Easy to handle [ similar to the AE86 but a little bit heavier .. ]
- Decent on all maps
Bad:
- Acceleration is a slight problem ..
- tail happy on wet conditions.

EA11R (cappuccino)

the good:
-light as a fether
-turns on a dime
-when the lights go out your invisible
-slip past other cars with ease especially with gutters
-looks cool
-KAWAII!
-sometimes get head starts online
bad:
-light as a feather
-takes some getting used too
-rain is NOT your friend at all
-every car looks like a bus when you are behind it
-not to powerful

As u can see no wonder my home town in Melaka got so many untune cars ... its because of the got damm price! I was lucky coz i usually tune my cars in Mines, Times Square, Sg Wang and Midvalley. I hope this is a usefull guide to those who wanted to play the game and buy new cards. To renew ur cards i recomended Times Square, Midvalley and Sg Wang because i seen that they have experience technition on stand by most of the time. The mines u must make sure a short chinese guy is there to help u if the error 404 acure. The worst place to renew ur cards is In the Cheras Leasure Mall arcade. By hook or crook pls do not go there because they are noobs. I've seen them simply restarting the machine (whiping up all the cards data) when an error happens. The other places i am not sure because never been ther to see the technicians at work...Happy gaming!

For those who cant wait for the 5th stage to start, this is a preview what is going to happen next after the battle with the gods of Tsukuba. So far this are the english translation of the manga is being done. The japan version is currently interesting because of the return of Kai with a new MR.I think the 5th stage will not be showing anytime soon, maybe in 2-3 years only we can get to see the AE86 again. The video size are kinda big to enable that viewers are enable to read it so just bear with it ok?

IDAS4 FAQ

1) Is there an exterior part I can add to my car to make it faster or more stable?
- Exterior parts dont matter in IDAS4. They dont matter. They dont make your speed, accel, brakes faster or stronger and doesnt make your handling "heavier". All they are good for is aesthetic value.

2) How do I do the drift??
- Hold the wheel like a good little boy. Now move both your arms in harmony either to the right or left. There! Congratulations.

3) What is the best overall car in IDAS4?
- The Trueno claims top rank because its the easiest car to control and has good speed and accel everywhere. Still, it doesnt mean you would be godly if you use a Trueno. Its very slippery so its also harder on wet but if you learn to control it right, you have a good all-rounder car. Its ok in battles but does not have the best startup in the game. Also, every course has "course cars" which either performs better or has better top speed than all the other cars.

4) What are the "course cars" and why?

Akina Lake ccw - Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 9 (course car because of 4th gear overrev top speed 191)
Akina Lake cw - Subaru Impreza GDBF (course car because of 4th gear overrev top speed 191)

Myogi DH - Honda Civic EG6 (course car because of slower speed loss during turns)
Myogi UH - Nissan Skyline GTR32 (course car because of every gear's top speed is higher than most cars by 1kph; ie: 4th gear is at 169kph)

Akagi DH - Mazda RX7 FC (course car because of slower speed loss during turns and easier to handle than the FD)
Akagi UH - Mazda RX7 FD (course car because of slower speed loss during turns as well as stability on exit)

Akina DH - AE86 Trueno (course car because of every gear's top speed is higher than most cars by 1kph; ie: 5th gear is at 177kph)
Akina UH - Subaru Impreza GC8V (course car because of every gear's top speed is higher than most cars by 1kph; ie: 5th gear is at 175kph)

Irohazaka DH - Toyota MR2 (course car because of every gear's top speed is higher than most cars by 1kph; ie: 3rd gear is at 105kph)
Irohazaka UH / Reverse - Suzuki Cappucino (course car because its small size allows you to make a tighter line on the wall ram. In iro reverse, even by using the wall ram, there is a tendency for other cars to slip on the outside, hitting the outside wall too rather than just the inside wall. The cappa doesnt, if you do it the correct way)

Tsukuba OB - Honda S2000 (course car because of every gear's top speed is higher than most cars by 1kph; ie: 5th gear is at 148kph. Three other cars share this top speed, the EK9, the GTR34 and the GTR32 but the S2000's handling as well as the top speed makes it the ideal choice for the course car)
Tsukuba IB - Nissan Skyline GTR34 (course car because of every gear's top speed is higher than most cars by 1kph; ie: 5th gear is at 148kph)

5) Yay! So if I use a course car during battle, I'll instantly pwn those who dont have them?
- Uhhh.... no. Course cars lose their 1kph or slower speed loss advantages during battles. Their speed goes back to regular speed. There are only 3 exceptions. I cant say them, though. LOL!
Still, some course cars have handling advantages. For example, I'd still like to use the Trueno in Akina DH or S2K in Tsukuba OB but I dont want to use the GTR34 in Tsukuba IB because of its "omfg-im-hitting-the-wall-AGAIN" handling.

6) Well, if I want to have 3 "great-everywhere-and-TA" cars in one card, which would you recommend?
- Tough question. I would go with 3 alternatives. And all of them have the Trueno:
( Option A ) Trueno, FC, S2K - Trueno obviously can take on any course but to own the big 3 (ie: Akina, Akagi, Tsukuba), these 3 course cars can take on any downhill map and fast enough in the UH. These are the cars btw on my very first IDAS4 card. And this garage is what I would say my "main" one.
( Option B ) Trueno, FD, MR2 - You have two great downhill cars with the Trueno and the MR2, the FD is there to get those wet maps that you think are too slippery for your underpowered cars and also to apply a bit of sexiness. Plus you get Iro with the MR2.
( Option C ) Trueno, GC8V, Cappucino - Now if you consider yourself quite a battler and also you love challenges and still want to pwn TA maps in your spare time, this is a good line-up. The ever-redundant Trueno is still there. This time we have the GC8V which acts like the FD on Option B except that this has GREAT start-up for those who love being in the front. For the pros who love the challenge, the cappa actually has SLOWER speeds than ALL cars in ALL maps AND also has startup. Slower by 1 to 1.5KPH than all cars, its the ultimate underdog car! pinch2.gif Still, it can do a great line and passing is a breeze. Take note:
Black cappa + Night condition + Blind attack = sex

7) How do I get the tuning shops?
- Alright, after you first get your car and card, keep ejecting your card until you get to your very first PERFORMANCE PARTS SHOP. You will know it when you see stuff like ENGINE, EXHAUST, BODY, ETC. Anyway this IS the performance shop, get your first upgrade and then eject your card. Now look at the pattern below:
Performance Shop ---> Normal Eject ---> Normal Eject ---> Body Shop A ---> Avatar random thingee ---> Normal Eject ---> Repeat from the start
Take note that there are two body shops. A and B. Body Shop A would be the hoods, rear bumper, body kits, rear spoiler, Side skirts/fender. Body Shop B would contain Muffler, Wheels, Sticker, Transmission, Mirrors and Misc.
Also take note that if you MISS your performance shop (ie: did not eject your card and continued), then dont fret because your pattern will change. This time, replace Body Shop A or B with Performance Shop and proceed as normal. Dont miss it again.

8) Can you tell me what is the best tuning method?
- I get this question a lot. The answer is that THERE IS NO "RIGHT" WAY TO TUNE! You can go 1-1-1-1-1 or 2-1-1-1-1 or 7-0-0-0-0. It all depends on you. What you should take note thought is that its not the right way of the tune that you should be concerned about but rather TO GET YOUR FRICKIN' CAR FRICKIN' FULL TUNED!!!
But if you INSIST on wanting a tuning pattern. I usually complete Step 7 Engine first in all cars. And then the next internal upgrades will depend on the car. For example, Im tuning a car with good handling but is considered "underpowered" (ie: Trueno, S2K, FC, Levin, AE85, Miata, etc) I do this method 7-7-0-0-7. The point of doing it this way is to boost power first since I dont have power but have decent handling. Logical, right? Now if I was tuning cars which has bad-ass power but heavier handling (ie: Evo9, GDBF, FD, the Skylines, etc), I do it this way 7-0-7-7-0. I STILL step 7 the Engine but this time, I choose body and suspension first over exhaust and ECU. Since I already have kick-ass accel, I focus on the handling first.
Still, as again stressed, it doesnt matter which way you go to tune. This is your goal ---> 7-7-7-7-7. How you get there is up to you.

9) Do you use the brakes?
- Not always. Only to PC. Refer to this page to know more: http://projectharuhi.blogspot.com/2007/11/initial-d-arcade-stage-4-techs.html

10) How do you get auras?
- You cant. At least not yet. What we have is the "international" version. Only the japanese versions have auras and ranks.

11) What car has the best startup in the game?
- Nobody has proven one car to be the best but take note that AWD cars have better startup than FR or FF cars. The gears have little to do with it. Its all on the traction.

12) What is the best engine for my Trueno?
- Any. All 3 engines perform the same. Only the tachs and the sound changes.

13) How can I post my times / see the times on the (English) internet rankings?
- Click on this link: http://netrank.initiald.sega.com/ranking/
If you want to post your time, go to DRIVER REGISTRATION. You need your TA password and your Card Number (its on your card). If asked for an email, you can use an email that your ISP has provided for you or, for less hassle, use www.keromail.com. The usual emails dont work, ie: Yahoo, Google, Hotmail.

14) I'm new, what car do you think I should make first?
- Make what you want. No use making a car if you dont like it. But if you want to be a serious TA player, refer to my previous post below and make the suitable car for the course.

15) Do I really need to PC?
- Do you really need to breathe?

16) Does eraser still work?
- No. Everyone who tell you stuff like that or some "clutch kicking", are just acting cool and dont know jacksh*t about what they're talking about.

17) What is the best startup for the game?
- For Time Attacks, I do a hot start overreving it as it counts down and immediately shifting to 2nd gear when it says "go". The engine will accelerate the same but the point of shifting quickly lessens the chance for you to mess up shifting to 2nd gear on a normal shift. If you overrev a bit on 1st gear, it already messes up your speed which messes up your times. For battles, what I do is do a cold start but I kick the pedal at the "one" number. When go starts, the needle will jump to the right RPM and I shift to 2nd gear normally when 1st gear hits the limit.
I have made experiments and I've found out that on TAs, any way to shift is ok (cold start, hard start, shift up immediately, normal shifting) but shifting up immediately gives you less chances to screw up shifting to 2nd gear.
